Meet Cassandra Leonardi
B.A., M.A. (C. Psych.) (C)
Resident Psychotherapist
Hi everyone, my name is Cassandra Leonardi and I have an undergraduate degree from York University with a major in Psychology. I am currently on the verge of completing my Masters in Psychotherapy and Counselling from Yorkville University and I am a Resident Psychotherapist. I wanted to share a little bit about my journey and reflections thus far, as well as my go-to approaches for counselling, because I believe that sharing is caring, and only when we care are we all on a path of healing.
Based on my experiences, I have learned tremendous communication skills, been able to work with diverse individuals, and worked collaboratively with others. I am relatable and reliable, as well as professional and academic. I am someone who enjoys what I do and making a difference in others’ lives, because it allows for me to find success in my own mission. At a young age, I was always certain that I wanted to help people and have always had a passion for it. I also have tremendous empathy and understanding for people that are going through life’s transitions and that need healthy guidance to make the appropriate changes in their lives.
With regards to my go- to approach, it is aligned with the understanding that our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected and if there is change in one, this will result in change in another. This is because I believe if you change your thoughts, you will change your life, and I implement this philosophy in my own life as well as others. My preferred approach is future and goal oriented and believes that visualization for my clients is helpful in attaining mental and physical happiness. My approach actively works towards solutions, identifies strengths, and encourages individuals to reach their goals. I provide an unbiased, non-judgmental standpoint, and treat people with the upmost respect, and loving nature. I am congruent, provide unconditional positive regard, and have empathetic understanding towards clients.
The role and core values of a psychotherapist is very much allied with who I am as a person and what I want to advocate to make the world a better place. I look forward to a lifetime of effective counselling and supporting individuals through life’s challenges.
