Meet Nechama Drookman

M.A. (C. Psych.) (C)

Resident Psychotherapist

Nechama is currently a resident psychotherapist at A1 Counselling Center and is completing the Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology practicum component. She is inspired to continuously maintain her learning and training to optimize her ability to help others. Nechama strives to extend her caring, optimistic, and empathetic nature with diverse therapeutic approaches to her clients and community. CBT, a client-centred approach and searching for meaning in life are a few psychotherapeutic approaches Nechama engages when counselling.

Nechama’s extensive experience of over 20 years in education as a teacher in the classroom and educational administration has allowed her to observe and learn about human development and the needs of young people and their families. Her specialty was teaching Hebrew as a second language and developed a program based on childhood psychological development for children infusing drama techniques and self-awareness.

It gives Nechama great pleasure and satisfaction to give back to the community by helping others learn, grow, find joy in life, and become the best versions of themselves. She believes that while we all have our strengths and areas that require development, the foundation to self-improvement is to accept our imperfections and love ourselves.
