Resident Psychotherapist (Qualifying)

Nechama joined A1 Counselling Center as a practicum student completing her Master of Arts in
Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. Upon completing her internship and becoming a
Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario
(CRPO), Nechama continued her role as a therapist (RPQ) with A1CC. She strives to extend her caring, optimistic, and empathetic nature with diverse therapeutic methods to her clients and community. CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Cognitive Therapy), Mindful based Therapy, EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy) and searching for meaning in life, through a client-centered approach are a few psychotherapeutic modalities Nechama engages in counselling.

Nechama’s extensive experience of over 20 years in the education realm that included teaching and
educational administration has allowed her to observe and learn human development and taking note of young people and their families’ needs. Her specialty was teaching Hebrew as a second language and developing a unique educational program based on childhood psychological development for children infusing drama techniques and self-awareness.

It gives Nechama great pleasure and satisfaction to give back to the community by helping others learn, grow, find joy in life, and become the best versions of themselves. She believes that while we all have our strengths and areas that require development, the foundation to self-improvement is to accept our imperfections and love ourselves.
