Hi! I an an MACP student and with a BSc in psychology and biology, and a certificate in trauma-informed support. I have several years of experience in supporting people of all ages through mental health challenges, and specifically supporting people with eating disorders. I am an immigrant who moved to Canada approximately 20 years ago, and I have strong connections to both Canadian and South Asian culture. I can provide therapy in Urdu and English.
I use a client-centered, strengths-based approach to help my clients. Often, we can be our own greatest critics, especially when we face tough situations. I aim to help my clients reverse unhealthy, stress-inducing self-talk and replace it with self-talk that calms them, enables them to reach their goals, and supports them in living the lives they want.
Problems develop and evolve in contexts. I take a non-judgmental, empathetic, and supportive approach to explore the various factors that influence my clients’ behaviors, including childhood experiences, discrimination, personality, the quality of their relationships, and their life stage. This helps me deepen my clients’ self-understanding and help them create holistic, long-term change.
